Robert's Pottery is not your average pottery shop. Imagine making pottery with the help of a volcano. Sounds crazy, right? But that's exactly what they do at Robert’s Pottery. They use the natural heat of the earth to fire the clay and create stunning pieces of ceramic beauty. Not only are they exceptionally beautiful, their quality far surpasses most due to their special heat-treated process. Their mission is to share the beauty of their craft with pottery enthusiasts and anyone that appreciates the unique results nature can bring and support their sustainability.
Brief
Develop a website design for a pottery company to highlight their unique production process, while showcasing the beauty and authenticity of the final products for sale. The goal is to not only attract more customers, but turn them into devotees that speak of their brand to further help increase their revenue and grow their business.
Strategy
The focus here is on highlighting the craftsmanship and expertise involved in using volcanic heat sources for pottery creation. After researching and exploring for a while, I’ve decided on an art direction and...it involves a lot of sparks. For a good reason though. They remind us of shooting stars, but in the oven and volcanoes instead of the sky. Along with the fact that each piece of work is unique, with its own colors, patterns, and textures. They are warm, cozy, and inviting, but also elegant, sophisticated, and refined. They are the perfect balance of nature, culture, fire, beauty and function. And so with all of that as my anchor, the landing page was fully designed.
Outcome
The final website design successfully conveys the unique process and vision of the pottery business, like a masterpiece of pottery perfection that just came out of the oven. With contrasting bright and dark colors to reinforces their uniqueness, the website evokes a sense of both modernism and handcraft, which increases their attraction to customers. The website's ability to effectively showcase the products and attract customers like moths to flames, will be reflected in their sales, customer engagement and feedback, which will serve as an indication to the website's success.
